![]() WELL BEING WORKSHOPSOur skilled workshop leaders deliver a wide range of well being workshops. If you want a specific workshop creating we work with you to ensure that your requests are met. Here is a selection of some of the most popular sessions... Qi Gong (pronounced ‘Chee Gong’) for beginnersQi Gong is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that combines movement, meditation and regulation of breathing to enhance the flow of energy in the body thereby improving circulation and boosting your immune system. A ‘softer’ form of T’ai Chi, the exercises are simple to perform and they are suitable for all levels of fitness. This class can be performed in a chair if preferred. Yoga for beginners This is an introduction to yoga and its benefits on the body. Our aim is to dispel the myth that yoga is for ‘hippies’. Yoga is a form of self-massage and stimulates all systems of the body. This workshop is not about ‘The perfect pose’ but introduces ways to help you strengthen and rebalance your body within your own limits. You will learn asanas (poses) that you can adopt into your daily routine. Stress Buster This workshop is designed to be an informal, yet structured discussion on stress management that will teach you skills to relax your mind and body. You will have the opportunity to discuss and share your views on stress and how it affects you. We will offer top tips to help you combat the effects of stress including: Time management, exercise, gentle stretches, breathing and relaxation techniques. You will end the session with a visualisation exercise that will help to promote feelings of deep relaxation and well-being. An introduction to T’ai Chi – 6 Million Chinese can’t be wrong! T'ai Chi is a form of martial art and exercise which uses slow and flowing movement to both discipline and calm the mind, body and spirit. This workshop includes: Recognizing the signs of stress and its physical symptoms; T'ai Chi exercises encourage deeper breathing and greater body awareness to calm the mind and relax the body. Workshops can also incorporate ‘Chinese Fans’ and ‘Swords’ to add an interesting element that often appeals to young people particularly. The Power of Positive Thinking Tutors use a variety of techniques to retrain the mind to deal with life’s stresses and strains. These useful tools can help with a wide range of problems and issues ranging from self-confidence, phobias, public speaking and teaching. Strategies help with success in any area of life. Meditation for stress relief Meditation sends you into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness and has been practiced for over 5,000 years. This workshop will introduce you to relaxation techniques through breathing and visualisation to promote relief from the stresses of modern day life. Chakra Balancing The word ‘Chakra’ literally means ‘wheel’ or ‘disc’. In many cultures there is the belief that chakras are energy centres situated through our bodies. This relaxing workshop will introduce you to the chakra system and to a meditation that will cleanse and balance you, re-connecting your mind, body and spirit. Back and Neck Pain, RSI workshop This workshop explores why so many people are suffering from joint pain nowadays. We introduce methods and exercises to deal with such symptoms. Movement ‘thru’ musicThis is a ‘fun’ workshop where we explore how music affects the body using the positive benefits to raise the spirits and achieve a happy state of well-being. Specialised seated aerobics is also available. An introduction to Thought Field Therapy (TFT) TFT is a simple meridian balancing technique, which can provide relief from pain, phobias, craving, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is a unique version of acupuncture except you don't use needles. Instead, you stimulate well-established energy meridian points on your body by tapping them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. This interactive workshop arms you with tools to take away and use immediately and safely. An introduction to Nordic Walking (Outdoor activity) Nordic Walking is an exciting new outdoor walking technique using specially designed poles. Often described as a full body workout, it is a fun way of toning the back, chest and arms. This dynamic exercise relieves tension in the neck and shoulders and can help conditions such as whiplash, fibromyalgia, backache and MS. The class will introduce you to the benefits of Nordic Walking at an outdoor venue of your choice for classes of up to 15 people. This is an excellent team building activity! Massage skills workshops We have workshop leaders with an array of skills to pass on. Any of our hands on therapies can be delivered in workshop style enabling you to take away practical skills for use as self help techniques and with family and friends. We will tailor make the session to suit your requests and needs. Drama and Movement Therapy (Story Moves) Story Moves uses drama, movement, story making, story-telling and story-enactment to offer participants a safe space to express themselves creatively and to explore different aspects of themselves. The work focuses on building self-confidence, self-esteem, self-expression, positive relationships and physical and emotional well-being. Story Moves sessions can take place with individuals, small groups or large groups depending on the intention of the work. Projects can also be focussed towards performance where relevant, which offers a further opportunity for teamwork, confidence building and fun! Do-in: Shiatsu Self Massage Shiatsu is based on Chinese medicine kind of like acupuncture but without needles. The one of the fundamental concerns of all oriental medicine is chi. The Chinese recognise that chi moves around the body in pathways called meridians and good health is attributed to healthy chi flow through these meridians. Do means ‘To open up channels and facilitate the movement of energy along the meridians’ and In means to stretch the limbs to achieve this, ( Do-In is done to ones self.) The best way to understand chi is to experience the results of chi exercises! This energizing workshop incorporates fun and energizing techniques that boost confidence, clear tension and calm the mind and body. Belly Dancing for beginners Originating in the Middle and Far East - Belly Dance works on so many levels and provides a holistic approach towards well-being. This fun and energetic dance workshop enables you to feel the benefits of Increased energy, improved posture, uplifted mood, muscle toning and increased fitness. Peer Massage is for adults too Peer Massage has been introduced to UK schools to enhance children’s sense of health & well being. The ‘weather massage’ is for adults too and is a fun way to learn clothed upper body massage techniques.
